Vision
To support the key strategic objectives of the energy sector—which include ensuring a safe, secure, reliable, and efficient supply and use of energy, as well as maximizing economic spin-offs from the energy industry, USMS Sdn Bhd is implementing the Unified Smart Metering System. This initiative represents a significant step forward in the digital transformation of Brunei Darussalam’s utility infrastructure. By enabling real-time monitoring, seamless top-up options, and data-driven insights, the system enhances operational efficiency, promotes responsible energy use, and contributes to long-term sustainability. It also aligns with the national agenda outlined in Brunei Vision 2035, supporting the country’s transition to a modern, knowledge-based economy.

UNIFIED SMART METERING SYSTEM (USMS)
USMS is an integrated platform that combines meter data management, meter management, billing, and a customer service portal into a single unified system.
Through a two-way communication module, the system can send and receive real-time data and notifications from smart meters using 3G or 4G SIM cards, ensuring efficient monitoring and billing.
With Smart Meter connectivity, customers can now manage both their electricity and water bills through one smart energy meter module, using their personal USMS account. Certified installers will handle the large-scale installation of these smart meters in both residential and commercial buildings.
Once installed, customers can easily top up or pay their bills digitally via in-app purchases on their mobile devices or through a web browser.
