Existing Commercial, Temporary & Government Customer

Steps

Dept. of Electrical Services has provide the existing commercial customers listing to USMS appointed installer for installation.

USMS appointed Installer will create the Work Order and assign Installer using Self-care portal for swapping existing Postpaid Meter to New Smart Meter.

USMS appointed Installer:

  • To print out the assigned Work order
  • To collect meter stock at USMS warehouse
  • To set appointment with customers for meter swapping.

Installer must

  • Present an Installer Authorized Utility ID
  • Present Work Order form for Smart Meter installation.
  • Brief explanation on process of installation and function of the smart meter system

Verify customer details

  • Registered ROCBN
  • Upload copy of ROCBN to USMS customer account.

Incase current owner name differs from registered owner, current owner to proceed to Dept. of Electrical Services / Dept. of Water Services / Berakas Power Company to change the owner details.

Installer will disconnect old meter.

Installer will take a picture of the existing electric or water meter showing the meter credit balance to upload to USMS Customer Account.

Including technical details of the CT coil, physical wirings, connections and MCCB breakers (with or without shut trip) either connected to the associated Administration Office, Finance Office or Management Office. Prior to connection, statement of work, risk assessment and mitigation report must first submit to DES. Possibly a shut-down power supply to the Main Switchboard / Sub-switchboard is required and to inform the building owner before wiring connections between the meter and the MCCB takes place.

Install new smart meter and onboard customer’s account within 1 – 2 hours.

Customer must register via USMS Self-Care portal:
www.usms.com.bn

  • Existing Postpaid meter customer – Dept of Electrical Services will generate final bill to the customer.
  • Existing Prepaid meter customer – Dept of Electrical Services will enter remaining credit to the customer’s account

Outstanding debts agreement between Dept of Electrical Services with customer to be input into CRM

The old meters will be returned to the Department of Electrical Services’ warehouse for safekeeping.
A Goods Return Form will be signed and returned to USMS for the claim process.

  • Customer must reload meter credit within 72 hours of account activation to prevent disconnection of service.

Meter installer to carefully store old meters at their own storage area. Old meters will be returned to Dept. of Electrical Services warehouse on a monthly basis for safe-keeping. Goods Return Form to be signed and return to USMS for claim purpose.
